Where LLDPE belongs in the options review

LLDPE is an option where flexibility and conformity to the prepared surface are important. Applications may include covered containment, landfill caps, ponds and civil lining details, subject to the project’s exposure and deformation assessment.

Material selection considers the magnitude and distribution of movement, penetrations, anchorage and protection. A flexible liner still needs a suitable foundation, verified seams and an appropriate chemical and durability basis.

Build a GM17 product schedule for the actual duty

GRI-GM17 covers manufacturing quality-control requirements for smooth and textured LLDPE geomembranes. Kontain can obtain the proposed grade’s TDS, formulation evidence, production quality records and traceability for review against the project specification.

• Confirm thickness, mechanical properties and multiaxial response for the proposed deformation.
• Specify antioxidant, ageing and UV requirements appropriate to exposed or covered service.
• Assess chemical compatibility and temperature using evidence relevant to the stored liquid and conditions.
• Match interface shear, puncture protection and seam qualification to the complete lining profile.

Smooth, textured, coloured and custom formats

Blown-film and flat-die sourcing options can be investigated with custom widths and lengths. Smooth, single-sided or double-sided textured, embossed and other textured surfaces can be considered for the proposed interfaces.

White, coloured and specialist constructions require confirmed variant and layer-specific data. Manufacturing availability, usable width, roll mass, minimum quantities and programme are confirmed for the offered grade.

Coordinate LLDPE with GCL, protection and drainage

Where a composite barrier is specified, review the LLDPE together with the GCL or other low-permeability layer. Contact conditions, cover, hydration, liquid compatibility, seams and penetrations affect the system.

Laminated LLDPE/GCL constructions require data and installation details for the actual laminate. A standalone geomembrane data sheet does not automatically qualify a laminated product. Kontain can help assess these interfaces and prepare the agreed material schedule.
