Kontain supplies lining materials and helps develop the specification and lining arrangement for the site. This includes polymer liners, geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs), protection geotextiles and drainage layers for mine water, farm dams, effluent ponds, sediment containment and closure works.

Start with the stored liquid or material, ground conditions, water depth, operating life and installation method. Kontain reviews the material requirements and system interfaces with the project team, then develops the specification, practical options and supply package. Prepare an application-specific material specification
Define the required barrier, protection and drainage functions before selecting products. The specification can address polymer or bentonite compatibility, relevant test methods, durability requirements, thickness, surface finish, seams or overlaps, protection layers and the evidence needed for acceptance.
Kontain can prepare material schedules, assess supplier data, identify departures and help the project designer compare options against the same requirements. Missing evidence remains visible in the recommendation.
Optimise the liner and the complete installed system
Review HDPE, LLDPE, GCL and composite arrangements against the actual exposure and construction conditions. Optimisation may involve the liner grade, thickness, smooth or textured surface, cushion, drainage layer, roll dimensions, seam layout or fabricated details.
The objective is a suitable, buildable system with a clear whole-of-project cost basis. A change that reduces material or installation cost still needs to satisfy the required performance and verification. Any thickness reduction or material substitution needs a defensible technical basis and acceptance by the responsible designer.
Connect design input with manufacture and supply
Kontain supplies the selected materials and coordinates formats, quantities, documentation and delivery. Custom roll widths, lengths and cores, liner-and-cushion laminates or adjusted GCL constructions can be investigated where they help the installation, subject to manufacturing feasibility and verification.
Design input can cover layer arrangements, installation details and interfaces such as penetrations, transitions, anchors and protection during construction. The agreed scope defines which drawings, calculations, specifications and reviews Kontain provides, and what the wider project team completes.
Support owners and consultants across the same sectors
For mines and quarries, the starting point may be a water-storage pond, settlement basin, containment cell or closure package. For farms and irrigation operators, it may be a dam liner or effluent pond upgrade. Councils, utilities and industrial owners may need new storage, relining or a temporary treatment and dewatering pad.
Environmental consultants can involve Kontain during options assessment or material specification. The lining proposal can then develop alongside the environmental objectives, site investigation, water-management plan and procurement requirements.
Questions before committing
Can Kontain help with a lining project that has no geobags?
Yes. Lining supply, material specifications and application-specific design input are available as a standalone service. A project can involve a polymer liner, GCL, cushion and drainage package without any dewatering bags.
Does optimisation mean choosing a thinner or cheaper liner?
It means reviewing the complete system against its duty and installation constraints. A better arrangement may involve different protection, roll formats, seams or drainage, or a more robust liner. Cost savings are considered only where the required performance can still be demonstrated.
Is lining design input included in the supply price?

Who is responsible for the final design and installation?
Responsibilities are agreed for the project. Kontain provides the specified material and design-input scope, coordinated with the responsible designer. Site investigation, wider civil or dam design, approvals, installation and construction verification remain with the appointed parties unless expressly included in an agreed competent scope.
