Geosynthetic supply with engineering input for global projects.

Kontain helps owners, contractors and consulting engineers connect the project specification with the right product, test evidence and manufacturing pathway. We supply geosynthetics and develop practical design input for mining, water, waste, civil and environmental projects in Australia and internationally.

The technical supply role

Keep the engineer, manufacturer and site team connected.

A product data sheet is one part of the decision. Kontain helps translate the actual duty into assessable requirements, confirm what can be manufactured and establish what needs testing before supply.

01

Specification and engineering input

Review the application, site conditions and design criteria with the project engineer. Develop material specifications, assess alternatives and prepare the agreed calculations, drawings and technical submissions.

Technical services
02

Products customised for the project

Coordinate roll widths and lengths, strength and strain requirements, geomembrane surfaces, drainage constructions, GCL laminations and fabricated geobag details with manufacturing partners. Confirm feasibility, tolerances and minimum quantities before manufacture.

Custom products
03

Testing and evidence review

Define the test methods, sampling and acceptance criteria with the design team. Coordinate independent laboratory testing where required and review results against the specification, including relevant accreditation scope and traceability.

Testing coordination
04

International project supply

Bring manufacture, quality records, packing and shipping into the same plan. Agree the destination, delivery terms, programme and responsibilities for each order, with technical support through procurement and delivery.

Discuss delivery

From an Australian base

Direct technical contact. A defined project scope.

Kontain is based in Adelaide, South Australia. Ben Lewis leads the technical work as a geotechnical engineer with MIEAust, CPEng, NER, APEC Engineer and IntPE(Aus) credentials.

What these credentials mean

Our Australian focus continues alongside international supply and remote engineering support. Site attendance, investigations, laboratory work and additional consultancy are agreed separately where required.

We work with the project’s appointed engineers and local specialists. Design certification and statutory approvals are scoped against the relevant jurisdiction’s requirements before the work is accepted.

Geotechnical investigations in Adelaide and SA

Agree the technical basis

Identify design inputs, relevant standards and test methods, material tolerances, evidence gaps and the acceptance process. Product substitutions and departures are recorded for the responsible engineer’s review.

Agree the delivery basis

Confirm the project country, destination port or site, packing, quantities, programme and agreed Incoterms® rule and named place. The quotation identifies freight, insurance, customs and destination responsibilities, together with any exclusions.

Product support included with supply and any separate design, testing or consultancy fees are set out in the proposal.

Common questions

Working with Kontain internationally.

Can Kontain support a project outside Australia?

Yes. Kontain welcomes international enquiries for geosynthetic supply, custom product development and defined engineering support. We confirm manufacturing feasibility, destination requirements, delivery arrangements and the technical scope for each project.

Can we involve our own consulting engineer?

Yes. We work with the appointed engineer to agree the design basis, material properties, test methods, departures and acceptance evidence. Project design ownership and approval responsibilities are recorded in the agreed scope.

Does Kontain carry out independent laboratory testing?

Kontain plans and coordinates testing with suitable external laboratories and reviews the results. Laboratory selection, relevant test accreditation, sample traceability and the reporting basis are agreed for the work required.

Can you customise a product to our specification?

We develop the proposed construction with manufacturing partners and check the evidence needed to demonstrate compliance. Availability depends on the required properties, production capability, minimum quantity, trials and lead time.

What do the international engineering credentials mean?

Ben Lewis is registered as an APEC Engineer and International Professional Engineer, IntPE(Aus), alongside MIEAust, CPEng and NER. These recognise professional competence and support international recognition. Local engineering registration and project approval requirements still apply.
