Retaining-wall drainage geocomposites
A drainage composite can provide a defined flow path behind a retaining structure. Its suitability depends on the applied pressure, drainage length and gradient, filter compatibility and a maintainable outlet. Connections at the base and around steps are as important as the core’s published flow value.
Filter fabric at the drainage interface
Match the geotextile to the adjacent soil and drainage material. Detail laps, terminations and connections so soil cannot bypass the filter. A geotextile is permeable; it does not replace a required waterproofing membrane.
Geogrids for reinforced-soil walls and steep slopes
Uniaxial geogrids provide tensile reinforcement where designed as part of the retained-soil system. Long-term strength, fill interaction, facing connections, reinforcement length and spacing must be checked with internal, external and overall stability.

Practical questions
Can KDrain replace granular drainage behind the wall?
It may be an option where the designer verifies flow, filters, loads, continuity and outlet details for the proposed configuration. A material substitution needs an agreed design basis.
