Effect of Geosynthetics on Swell Reduction During an Extreme Rainfall Event

Mohit Saily, Ivan Gratchev

Original research · free full-paper access · authors credited

Research overview

Large-scale soil-column tests on very high-plasticity Queensland clay found reduced swelling with geosynthetics during simulated extreme rainfall. CBR did not improve in the tested soil, showing why swell control and bearing-strength improvement require separate assessment.
