A Numerical Investigation of Drainage Characteristics of Nonwoven Geotextile in Unsaturated Fine-grained Soil
Original research · free full-paper access · authors credited
Research overview
Transient seepage models, calibrated against laboratory data, examine nonwoven geotextiles as both capillary barriers and lateral drains in unsaturated fine-grained soil. The simulations identify air-entry or water-entry suction and initial moisture as important controls on breakthrough and drainage, but the findings remain dependent on the adopted hydraulic functions, boundary conditions and model calibration.
