Kontain GCL Standard
Conventional containment using a nonwoven cover and woven carrier. Select for the actual liquid chemistry, confinement and installation conditions.
The reference grade contains at least 3,700 g/m² dry granular bentonite. Powdered bentonite and other masses can be specified with a separate property schedule.
Reference specification.
Reference values are declared technical-schedule values, not independently established MARVs or results for every supplied roll. Confirm the selected construction, bentonite source, liquid compatibility and lot certificates before order release.
| Property | Method / basis | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Dry bentonite mass | ASTM D5993 | ≥3,700 g/m² |
| Swell index | ASTM D5890 | ≥24 mL/2 g |
| Fluid loss | ASTM D5891 | ≤18 mL |
| Tensile strength, MD / cross direction | ASTM D6768 | ≥10 / ≥10 kN/m |
| Peel strength | ASTM D6496 | ≥600 N/m |
| Static puncture | EN ISO 12236 / ASTM D6241 | ≥1,800 N |
| Hydraulic conductivity | ASTM D5887; test conditions to be confirmed | ≤5.0 × 10⁻¹¹ m/s |
| Hydrated peak internal shear at 10 kPa normal stress | ASTM D6243 | ≥30 kPa |
Review the full TDS for the construction, tolerances, test conditions and supply requirements. These values are not a statement of lot-specific conformance.
Selection and installation.
The reference granular grade does not establish the properties of a powdered or polymer-modified variant. Internal shear is not interface friction and does not establish a permissible slope.
Common rolls are 5 m × 30 m (150 m² gross). Custom dimensions, bentonite masses and plastic or steel cores are available by order. Confirm gross roll mass and clear core bore before lifting.
Provide the liner section, contact-soil grading and chemistry, liquid analysis, slope, loading, installation method and delivery requirements.
